Gary Pomerantz, CFP®

Gary joined Wingate Wealth Advisors as a Senior Financial Advisor and member of the management team in September 2017, bringing his more than 20 years of experience to the firm.  He became a Partner in March of 2018.

Gary’s expertise lies in helping clients create a financial plan of action to guide them through wealth transitions such as retirement, employment transition, sale of a business, liquidation of stock options, inheritance or divorce.  Gary is grateful to have helped many families with their successful transition into retirement each year.  In addition, Gary has developed a specific expertise in the field of retirement planning and academic retirement plans utilizing TIAA. His practice occupies a niche in academic circles, where he provides financial planning and investment advice to faculty and high-level administrators from leading academic institutions.

Prior to joining Wingate, Gary was a Principal and Managing Director at East Coast Asset Management (2011-2017) and Lexington Wealth Management (2006-2011). Gary previously served as a Financial Planning Consultant in the Office of Retirement Programs at Harvard University, where he provided comprehensive financial planning services to faculty and staff.

Gary has been a Certified Financial Planner™ since 1996. As a chartered member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), he has advocated for stronger consumer protections for financial planning clients in the U.S. Congress and the Massachusetts legislature. Additionally, Gary is an associate member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) and is a past co-host of the Money Matters Radio Show on WBNW AM 1120.

Gary graduated Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude with distinction from Boston University where he received dual degrees in Political Science and Journalism. Gary and his wife, Lourdes, live on the North Shore with their children. He enjoys time with his family, travel, reading, playing squash, cycling, and running with his yellow lab, Sunny.
